My Passion For Music
For as long as I can remember, music has been an essential part of my life. Every childhood memory I have is associated with a song. I had dreams of singing on stage, conveying feelings to my audience through my voice. When I started High School, I joined Choir and began taking voice lessons. With time and a lot of practice and training, I realized my vocal range. I sang in choir all through High School, participated in several regional and state competitions. Singing was an outlet for me and when I would perform, I felt like my audience benefited from the music as well. It has always been a unique way of connecting with people.
I attended the University of Texas at Austin and received my Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance. I learned how to sing in several languages, both as a soloist and a member of various choirs. When I graduated from college, I found I did not know exactly how to pursue my dreams in music, I really wanted to perform and yet I was not sure how to accomplish that.
Audio Recording
Along with singing, I have always enjoyed recording. Making audio sound clear, with different effects really interests me. I would record using instrumental backing music, most times karaoke, and make the songs sound as good as I could with whatever technology I had at the time. I would share my cover songs with family and friends. I also would use the same songs to perform live sometimes at gatherings and really enjoy doing that.
Hoping to Perform Live
I had not recorded or performed for many years, life happened and between raising 3 daughters and working full time, I let that part of my life go for a time. However, I recently rediscovered my love for both performing and recording. I want to create a space where I can not only share my music, but also put myself out there for possible live performances. I would really enjoy singing at parties, weddings, or in places like Senior Centers where my music can be enjoyed live again. If you are interested in having me perform at your event, please contact me. I would love to sing for you and your friends, family, coworkers, or at almost any kind of gathering.
My Interest in Blindness Technology
I have loved technology since I got my first Braille & Speak at the age of the 13. In my current job, I use several screen readers and multiple braille displays to test digital content for accessibility and usability. Technology has impacted my life in so many ways. I hope to share what I have learned and what I will learn with those in our blind community.
